  1. Hi Val! I absolutely love your version of the ending of Ramayana. I was also very upset and confused when I read about Sita’s abandonment. Your ending is much more satisfying, to be honest. I can see how you incorporate modern ideas of victim-blaming into your story, and I think that is a brilliant technique to bring attention to current issues. I also enjoyed reading about Sita in the Ramayana and how she remained devoted to Rama and insisted on accompanying him. I saw her as a strong female protagonist in a very difficult situation. By the end of the story, I was ultimately disappointed at her passivity. Your version portrays a different side of Sita that overcomes terrible situations and leads her own life for her own satisfaction. At first, I was rather confused because Sita was never raped by Ravana in the Ramayana. I’m not sure if you changed this on purpose, but it is a strong story, nevertheless. I look forward to reading more of your work!

  2. Hi Val! I really like the layout and design of your class blog! The background picture you have makes your blog very unique. Your blog is very easy to navigate. I like that your labels are clearly listed on the right hand side of your blog so that it is easy to find all of your posts! I also like how you have a dark background with white text, it is very striking!

  3. Val,

thank you for leaving those comments about my story, "The Magic in Music". You know what's funny? I've also seen a lot of people's posts where there are extra spaces between words or sentences. But when I went in to edit and delete the spaces, there were none! I wonder if it has something to do with formatting and how the page loads differently for some people.

Since I am only taking this one class, I have gotten back into reading more and it's so great! It's like taking up a hobby I had long forgotten about and falling in love with it again! It's hard for me to understand how some people just hate to read! I saw in your intro that you like to read medieval and Renaissance romance novels. I've never read them before, but I think I would like them because I like a good love story and I also like period pieces. Hope you can get back into reading soon!

  4. Val,

Thank you for your comments on my storybook project. Your comments were very helpful. I have made corrections on everything you suggested. I found the "buffed" picture of Hanuman on Pinterest. I had to choose it because It's just so different from the pictures we usually see of an Indian god.

  5. Hey Val! Great job on your portfolio! I really enjoyed reading all your stories and a lot of them have so much details! You put a lot of effort in your stories! I think my favorite one is "Sita Self-Immolates" I liked how you tried to make Sita into a stronger person. I considered myself a feminist too and I dislike how the story made Sita seem weak. I think a lot of the Indian Epics stories, the women weren't valued as much. I think that is why I really like the twist in your story, making Sita a strong woman. Overall, I think you did a great job on all your stories but the Sita one was my favorite! Keep up the good work! I can't wait to read more of your stories! I also enjoy your layout! I think you put quite a bit of effort into your portfolio. However, I do have to point out in the story of Sita, I don't think Ravana ever raped Sita. He can't because he was cursed, so that kinda threw me off, you probably might want to change that but good job!
